Utah Grizzlies News Release
Update
The Grizzlies (26-25-6-10) return home for four of their final five regular season games after recently completing 13 of 15 games away from the E-Center. Utah is 3-0-0-1 in their last four home games dating back to February 20.
A-May-zing
Utah forward Tom May recorded four goals in their game Thursday in Stockton and added another Friday in Bakersfield to complete the week with five goals. The rookie all-star became just the third player in Grizzlies history to record four goals in a game. Since January 10, May has 25 goals and eight assists in 33 games.
A New Leader
For the first time all season, the Grizzlies have a new leader in goal scoring. Tim Verbeek, who had 28 goals entering Thursday's game, was surpassed by May, who had 25 entering the night. Verbeek had no chance at defense as he sat out just his second game of the year with an injury.
Getting The Band Back Together For The Stretch Run
Over the last several weeks, the Grizzlies have regained the services of forwards Vladimir Nikiforov and Mike Walsh from the AHL. Also returning to the Grizzlies lineup recently from call-ups were defensemen Jordan Hart and Andy Sertich along with goaltender Mike Mole. Goaltender Robert Gherson was also reassigned back to the team March 12 from the AHL's Chicago Wolves.
Against Phoenix
The Grizzlies welcome back the Phoenix RoadRunners for games Tuesday and Wednesday. Utah is 3-1-0-3 against Phoenix this year scoring six goals each in their last two wins. A Grizzlies player (James Brannigan, February 7; Tyler Wooddisse, March 8) also has had a hat trick in the last two games against Phoenix. Utah currently leads Phoenix by seven points in the standings entering this week.
Against Stockton
The Grizzlies are 5-1-0-1 this year against Stockton and have more wins against the Thunder than any other ECHL opponent. Thursday they make their fourth trip to Stockton since February 13.
