Grizzlies Fall To Victoria; Rubber Game Saturday At 7

West Valley City, Utah - The Victoria Salmon Kings (30-18-4-2) defeated the Utah Grizzlies (23-21-2-5) 5-2 Friday night at the E-Center before 5,910 fans.

The loss ends Utah's three-game home winning streak and their three-game unbeaten streak overall. Utah dropped to 4-2-0-3 in February with the defeat.

The Grizzlies and Salmon Kings were 1-1 after one period and 2-2 after two periods before Victoria took over with a three-goal third period: starting with a shorthanded breakaway by Adam Taylor with 4:13 gone by in the period. The Salmon Kings added another score 3:21 later from Taylor at 7:34 as he finished off the hat trick and made it 4-2 Victoria. The Salmon Kings added an empty-net goal with 32 seconds left to cap off the scoring.

James Sixsmith gave Utah a 1-0 first period lead 16:58 into the first period on his 13th goal of the year. AJ Perry then made it 2-2 on his 20th goal of the year with eight seconds left in the second period to tie the contest at the second intermission.

Beau Erickson stopped 29 of 31 shots through two periods and 35 total in the hockey game.

The Grizzlies and Salmon Kings complete their series Saturday at 7:05 p.m. at the E-Center. It's the team's fourth-annual "Pooch on the Pond" game where fans are invited to bring their dogs. Visit www.utahgrizzlies.com for more information.
