Griffins Unveil Revamped Format and Time for Wednesday's 12th Annual Matinee Game

Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012 vs. Milwaukee Admirals

Time : 11 a.m. at Van Andel Arena (doors open at 9 a.m.).

12th Annual Matinee Game : The Griffins' annual matinee game has become a major educational event for West Michigan schools. Approximately 5,000 students and teachers will arrive at 9 a.m. to take part in many unique learning experiences prior to the game's new start time of 11 a.m. This season, the Griffins have partnered with local organizations such as the West Michigan Optometric Association and the West Michigan District Dental Society to provide a variety of "Health & Wellness" educational displays and exhibits for students and teachers.

High School Symposium : The matinee game experience will expand for high school students this year through the new Griffins High School Symposium, which will assist students in developing their career interests and preparing for an academic life beyond high school. The Griffins have teamed up with Grand Valley State University, Northwood University, Central Michigan University, Aquinas College, Western Michigan University, Hope College and Calvin College to create a fun event that will showcase a wide variety of exciting programs offered within each school's curriculum. Career Fair : The Griffins' second annual Career Fair will be located in the arena's banquet room from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Job-seekers are invited to attend and meet with local companies that are searching for qualified candidates to fill their open career opportunities. Local companies who are attending include WOOD TV8, Perrin Inc., EmploymentGroup, Aflac, PL Slaton, MassMutual - FourSquare Financial, Uniform Color Company, Pearson Foods, Northwestern Mutual, the State of Michigan and more. A Griffins ticket is required for entry, but job-seekers can receive a limited number of complimentary tickets by registering for the event at the downtown Michigan Works! location inside the Kent County Human Services building or by calling the Griffins at (616) 774-4585 ext. 3060.

Winning Wednesday : Returning for another season, Amway Winning Wednesdays mean that when the Griffins win at home on Wednesday, so do you! If the Griffins beat the Milwaukee Admirals, every fan in attendance may redeem their ticket stub for a free ticket to the Griffins game on Wednesday, Dec. 5 versus Peoria. The box office will be open following the game for redemptions if the Griffins win. Fans may also redeem their stubs at The Zone during business hours (M-F 10-6; Sat. 10-2) and at the box office the night of Dec. 5. Additionally, the first 300 fans to visit the Amway table in Section A will receive a gift.

Buy-One, Get-One Pepsi : Every Wednesday, fans can enjoy a buy-one, get-one-free deal on a 16 oz. Pepsi all game long at any concession stand that sells fountain drinks.

Library Day : Fans who present their Grand Rapids Public Library card or Kent District Library card at the Van Andel Arena box office on the day of the game or at The Zone anytime during the store's regular business hours to save $7 off the price of a Lower Level Faceoff ticket (regularly $18 in advance and $20 day of game). Limit four tickets per card per person, subject to availability.

Movember : Throughout November, fans will notice that almost every Griffins player, and most of the front office staff, is donning a moustache in support of Movember, a month-long moustache-growing initiative to help raise vital awareness and funds for men's health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men. The Griffins' efforts in Movember are sponsored locally by the Kings Room Barbershop. Visit griffinshockey.com for more information and for weekly updates and moustache progress photos. Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 vs. Rockford IceHogs

Time : 7 p.m. at Van Andel Arena (doors open at 6 p.m.).

Dollar Beers and Hot Dogs : Enjoy $1 hot dogs and $1 domestic drafts from 6-8 p.m., while supplies last.

Free Ride Friday : Ride the Rapid to and from any Friday game and enjoy complimentary fare by showing your ticket to the game. Visit ridetherapid.org for schedule information, routes and maps.

College Night : College students can show their ID to purchase an upper bowl ticket for $13 (or $11 in advance at The Zone) and stop by the McFadden's concourse table to receive a free pass to the post-game party at McFadden's.

Advance ticket prices are $14, $16 and $18 in the arena's upper level, and $18, $22, $26 and $32 in the lower level. (Additional $2 per ticket on day of game.) On game night, tickets may be purchased without a convenience charge at the Van Andel Arena box office, beginning 90 minutes before game time. Fans who attend multiple games can avoid charges and receive a discount from the single-game price by purchasing a 10- or 20-game partial season package.

Season-Long Offers

Military Nights : Every home game this season, current members of our military can purchase up to four upper bowl tickets for $13 each (or $11 in advance at The Zone) with a valid military ID. The offer also extends to veterans who present a VA ID or discharge papers.

MOS Corner Office : Presented by Michigan Office Solutions, this section, located on the terrace level above section 118, provides the best seats in the house for groups of up to 30 people, with La-Z-Boy chairs and an array of unprecedented amenities. Call (616) 774-4585.
