Grand Rapids Griffins (8-4-0-0) vs. Lake Erie Monsters (6-8-0-0) TODAY Noon Van Andel Arena
* The Griffins, who have won seven consecutive games for the first time since a franchise-record 11-game run from March 5-31, 2006, will kick off a four-game homestand today by hosting the Lake Erie Monsters in their ninth annual matinee game.
* With a 6-0 mark at Van Andel Arena, the Griffins are off to their best home start ever and remain the AHL's only perfect team within friendly confines.
* The Griffins today will welcome 5,500 students and teachers from schools across the state. Elementary and middle school students will learn about topics centered on life science, physical science and technology through interactive displays on the concourse beginning at 10 a.m. In addition, high school students will participate in a career forum focusing on the emerging careers of tomorrow, with presentations from West Michigan experts and professionals. Lake Michigan Credit Union Business Development Manager Vickie Smith will also discuss financial responsibility following high school and share information on the Hutt Scholarship.
* In honor of Veterans Day, all active and retired military personnel can present their military I.D. at the box office to purchase either a $10 lower bowl ticket or $5 upper bowl ticket. For Library Day, public library cardholders can purchase a lower bowl ticket for just $10, and as part of Winning Wednesday, all fans in attendance will receive a free ticket to the Dec. 9 game if the Griffins defeat the Monsters.
* The Griffins own an all-time record of 6-2 in their annual matinee game.
