Griffins in Town as Series Shifts to Rockford

Rockford, Ill. - The Rockford IceHogs host the Grand Rapids Griffins tonight at the BMO Harris Bank Center in the sixth meeting of the season.
Puck drop is 7 p.m. and gates open at 6 p.m. The first 2,500 fans to enter the arena will receive a fleece blanket compliments of OSF.

Matchup: Rockford enters tonight's meeting following a 3-2 overtime loss to the San Diego Gulls in the first-ever matchup between the two teams on Friday. The IceHogs jumped out to an early 1-0 lead courtesy of Kyle Baun, and Luke Johnson knotted the game 2-2 in the final period to push the game into overtime. The Gulls struck 40 seconds into the extra period for their win.
Grand Rapids is currently on a two-game winning streak after a 3-0 shutout of the Admirals last night in Milwaukee. The Griffins are led on offense by Matt Lorito with 32 points (10G, 22A), while Tomas Nosek and Ben Street each have six points this season against the Hogs.
This evening's matchup with the Griffins will be the sixth of the campaign and just the second in Rockford. The IceHogs have fared well on home ice, posting a record of 9-6-2-2 this year as the series shifts to the BMO Harris Bank Center for four of the next five games.
Spencer Abbott leads the IceHogs with 24 points (8G, 16A) and paces Rockford with two goals and an assist against Grand Rapids. Defenseman Cameron Schilling has also chipped in a goal and two assists versus the Griffins.
Next Home Game: Monday, January 16 vs. the Grand Rapids Griffins at 1 p.m. The IceHogs host the Griffins on Martin Luther King Day at the BMO Harris Bank Center. Winning Weekdays presented by Fas Fuel and WXRX Dollar Day are both slated as promotions. After every IceHogs home win on a weekday, all fans in attendance can redeem their game ticket for a FREE ticket of equal or lesser value to the next weekday game. Also, one lucky fan in attendance will WIN a $50 gas card courtesy of Fas Fuel. Fans can also take advantage of $2 hot dogs, sodas and companion tickets.
