Augusta, GA - The Augusta GreenJackets (30-28) finished their 6-game homestand and series with the Columbia Fireflies (29-30) in style, taking the finale by a score of 7-3.
Cory Taylor continued the roll he's been on, improving to 5-1 on the season. He lowered his ERA to 1.89, pitching six innings, and striking out five. Jake McCasland saved his third game of the season, pitching the final three innings.
Augusta's bats came to play, with Miguel Gomez knocking out his forth home run of the season in the 5th inning. Gomez had four RBI on the night and improved his average to .341. Jalen Miller had a pair of hits, and Skyler Ewing, back up with the GreenJackets, had three hits of his own, including two RBI.
The Fireflies had lone runs in the 2nd, 4th and 8th innings.
The win gives the GreenJackets their ninth in the last 11, and they improve their record to 30-28 and are now 4.5 back of the Charleston RiverDogs. Augusta went 4-2 during the homestand. Next up is a critical stretch with the Greenville Drive and RiverDogs on the road.
The GreenJackets will return back home on June 16th vs the Lexington Legends. It's Thirsty Thursday and Parrot Head Night!
