Chicago Steel News Release

GENEVA, ILLINOIS - The United States Hockey League ("USHL") announced Tuesday that Chicago Steel defenseman Corson Green has been added to the roster for the 2017 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game. The game takes place Tuesday, Jan. 10, in Sioux Falls, S.D. Steel forwards Walker Duehr and Brannon McManus were previously selected for the game, as was Steel Head Coach Dan Muse. NHL and USHL general managers and scouts selected the game's participants as some of the top 2017 NHL Draft-eligible USHL players, who will showcase their skills on the ice at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. The game broadcast will be available on HockeyTV with details to be announced at a later date.

Green, 17, has tallied 10 points (4G+6A) through 24 games played so far in his rookie USHL season, including two goals and five assists during the month of December. The Potsdam, N.Y. native stands tall at 6-foot-3 and 207 pounds, and is committed to the University of New Hampshire (Hockey East). Green is on NHL Central Scouting's radar, as he has been included in recent Players to Watch lists. The Steel defenseman was given a "C" ranking as a prospect for a potential fourth-, fifth- or sixth-round selection at the 2017 NHL Draft, to be held June 23-24 at United Center in Chicago.

The 2017 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game will also feature a pre-game skills competition. The past two Top Prospects Games - 2016 in Omaha, Neb., and 2015 in Dubuque, Iowa - featured near sellout crowds, and were featured in special programs on NHL Network.

Four members of the 2015-2016 Steel roster competed in the 2016 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game, including 2016 NHL Draft picks Max Zimmer (CAR - 4th Rd., 104th overall) and Tanner Laczynski (PHI - 6th Rd., 169th overall). Chicago's current roster also features two goaltenders drafted by NHL teams: Ales Stezka (2015: MIN - 4th Rd., 111th overall) and Peter Thome (2016: CBJ - 6th Rd., 155th overall).

The Steel start the new year this weekend in Michigan - Friday, Jan. 6 at Team USA (U17) in Plymouth (6:05 p.m. CST), and Saturday, Jan. 7 at the Muskegon Lumberjacks (6:15 p.m. CST) - before beginning a season-long, eight-game homestand on Saturday, Jan. 14 vs. Team USA (U17) on "You're STEEL The One" Night, when one lucky couple will renew their vows during intermission. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m. The following day - Sunday, Jan. 15 - Chicago hosts the Sioux City Musketeers in a Steel Family Pack Game on "Daddy Daughter Princess Day," including a visit from special guests Elsa and Anna, as well as a full-team post-game autograph session.
