Grant Shaw Recognized for Outstanding Community Service

Edmonton- Eskimos Kicker Grant Shaw is the 2016 recipient of the David Boone Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the community.
This is Shaw's second David Boone Award. He was awarded the first in 2013 and is just the second player to receive the honour twice.
Shaw was presented the award at this evening's Eskimos Annual Dinner, presented by Capital Power. The dinner, a 52-year tradition, raises funds to help make a positive and meaningful impact in the community thoug h the Eskimos TELUS Champions in the Community program.
Born and raised in Edmonton, Shaw is dedicated to community service.
He has participated in 78 community appearances in 2016 alone, totally over 130 service hours to schools, community groups and amateur football teams. He also trains several minor football players.
Shaw is one of two Eskimos selected to be a War Amps ambassador. He is also one of the team's specially-trained TELUS Wise ambassadors who visit schools to share powerful messages of anti-bullying.
The David Boone Award was created in 2005 in memory of the legendary Eskimos defensive lineman, three-time West Division All-Star and CFL All-Star who spent countless hours helping the less fortunate. The honour is awarded annually to the Eskimo who best displays the characteristics on the field and in the community that Boone stood for.
