Vladislav Kamenev Records First Point with Rampage

GRAND RAPIDS, MI (Nov. 8, 2017) - The Grand Rapids Griffins (6-6-0-1) registered five-unanswered goals in the second and third periods to defeat the San Antonio Rampage (7-3-1-0) 7-4 on Wednesday at Van Andel Arena. Julien Nantel tallied two goals in the contest, earning his first multiple-goal game of his AHL career.

Nantel got the Rampage out to an early lead 1:58 into the first period when he forced a turnover deep in the Griffins zone and found the back of the net. Turner Elson tied the game 5:09 into the frame after collecting a redirected shot and firing the puck past Rampage netminder Ville Husso. Vladislav Kamenev recorded his first point with the Rampage 39 seconds later when he found Andrew Agozzino open at the left face-off circle, giving San Antonio a 2-1 advantage. Tage Thompson extended the Silver and Black's lead to two after receiving a pass from Duncan Siemens, leading to a breakaway goal 14:36 into the period. After Thompson's goal, the Griffins elected to go with Tom McCollum in net for the remainder of the game.

Grand Rapids took advantage of a 5-on-3 power play 2:28 into the second frame when Matt Lorito finished a pass from Matthew Ford, pulling the Griffins within one. Nantel recorded his second goal of the game when he received a backdoor pass from Dominic Toninato and sent the puck into the back of the net 7:04 into the frame, extending the Rampage lead to two. The Griffins answered at the 11:20 mark when Robbie Russo hit a slap shot from the blue line to cut the lead to one. Evgeny Svechnikov tied the game at four 13:25 into the frame with his second goal of the season.

Colin Campbell gave Grand Rapids the lead after finding the back of the net 1:42 into the final period. Lorito recorded his second goal of the day after collecting a rebound and firing the puck into the Rampage net at the 10:44 mark. Corey Elkins added a shorthanded empty-net goal 17:09 into the final frame, securing a 7-4 victory over the Rampage.
