Harrisburg Senators News Release

Erie, PA - Brian Goodwin and Steven Souza, Jr. hit back-to-back home runs to spark the Senators to a 5-0 rain-shortened win over the Erie SeaWolves, snapping a four-game losing streak and avoiding a sweep. The game was called after six-and-a-half innings, following the second rain delay of the contest.

Nathan Karns gave up just one hit and struck out five in five shutout innings of work. He improved his record to 6-3 with the victory.

The game was scoreless and the Senators didn't record a hit until the fifth, when they exploded with four hits and three runs. Sandy Leon and Jason Martinson each singled to open the inning. Later in the frame, Destin Hood and Ricky Hague came through with RBI singles.

The back-to-back homers by Goodwin and Souza came with one out in the seventh. It was Goodwin's seventh of the season and number ten for Souza, who took the team lead in long balls.

Tomorrow, the Senators return home to play the first of seven games in five days against the Bowie Baysox. Game time is 6:00 p.m. and the game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and it's available through iHeart Radio beginning with the pregame show at 5:45 p.m.
