Two teams coming off strong offensive performances last weekend picked up right where they left off. The Eagles struck first, taking a 1-0 lead on Kevin Ulanski's goal in his season debut at 9:01. The Aces responded immediately, tying the game less than a minute later. Garry Nunn redirected a Kane Lafranchise pass into the net at 9:57. Gomez received the second assist on the goal. Colorado reclaimed the lead at 2-1 when Cody Sol scored on a one-timer from the blue line at 12:08. The Aces tied the game again on a shorthanded goal from Joey Crabb at 16:19 to make it 2-2 after one period. Both teams had eight shots on goal in the first.

Colorado immediately recaptured the lead on the opening shift of the second period. Joey Sides finished off a rush into the offensive zone 12 seconds into the period for his ninth goal of the season. The Eagles held their lead until Jarred Smith scored his first pro goal on a slapshot from the right circle off of the post and into the net at 12:17 to make it 3-3 after two periods. The Aces outshot the Eagles 19-5 in the second period.

In the third period the Aces took their first lead of the night on their second power play goal. At 6:29 Gomez redirected a shot past Tyler Plante for his first Aces goal since 2005. The goal stood as the game-winner thanks to Mark Guggenberger making 22 straight saves to close the game, including 18 in the third period. The Aces appeared to have scored again in the closing minutes, but Nunn's goal at 18:23 was waived off when Nick Mazzolini was whistled for a penalty. The Eagles pulled their goaltender for a two-man advantage, but could not break through for the equalizer.

Mark Guggenberger (8-3) earned the win making 28 saves on 31 shots. Tyle Plante (1-1) took the loss, making 34 saves on 38 shots. The Aces went 2-3 on the power play and the Eagles went 0-6. Alaska outshot Colorado 38-31 in the game.
