Goldeyes Make Roster Move

December 21, 2017 - American Association (AA) - Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release

WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Goldeyes acquired infielder Luis Diaz from the Frontier League's Joliet Slammers on Tuesday.

The roster move completes the March 3rd trade that sent infielder Ridge Hoopii-Haslam to Joliet in exchange for a player to be named later.

Diaz has been subsequently traded to the Gary SouthShore RailCats as part of the August 10th trade in which the Goldeyes acquired right-handed pitcher Charle Rosario in exchange for right-handed pitcher Daniel Minor, four players to be named later, and cash considerations.

On October 24th, the Goldeyes acquired infielder Mitch Glasser and left-handed pitcher Onas Farfan from the Cleburne Railroaders before sending both players to the RailCats as part of the same August 10th trade.

Diaz hit .235 with 15 RBI in 32 games as a true rookie for the Slammers in 2017.

The Goldeyes currently have four players under contract for the 2018 season while also retaining player options on the 21 players from their 2017 season-ending roster.

The Goldeyes will celebrate their 25th season in 2018.

The Winnipeg Goldeyes open the 2018 season on May 18th on the road against the Cleburne Railroaders. The Goldeyes' 2018 home opener is Friday, May 25th versus the Sioux Falls Canaries at Shaw Park. Season tickets, 10-game mini packs, and group outings for the 2018 season are on sale now. For more information, call the Goldeyes' office at (204) 982-BASE
