Goats Broyle up a Split Before Near Record Crowd

Hartford- The Hartford Yard Goats earned a split of their two games against the first place Altoona Curve Saturday, winning the suspended game from Friday night, 4-2, then losing the regularly scheduled game, 2-0. The Saturday night crowd was 6,847, the second largest crowd in Dunkin' Donuts Park history and the 14th sellout of the season. Ten of the last 16 home games have been sellouts and Hartford is now averaging 5,174 fans per game.

Trailing 2-0 in the last of the fourth inning, when the suspended game resumed, the Yard Goats rallied to win scoring four runs after two were out. Winning pitcher Matt Pierpont, delivered a two-out run-scoring double in the fifth inning, followed by RBI hits by Max White and Ashley Graeter. Josh Fuentes added a two-out RBI single in the sixth inning for an insurance run.

Pierpont pitched three scoreless innings, allowing one hit and no walks to notch his fourth win against one loss. He was helped by closer Shane Broyles, who earned a six-out save, his seventh of the season. The attendance for the Friday night game was 6,379.

Hartford managed just two hits in the regular scheduled seven-inning game, as righthander Tanner Anderson tossed six shutout innings and did not walk a batter. Anderson, (5-6), whose delivery features a high leg kick, threw only 52 pitches. Reliever Montana DuRapau struck out the side in the seventh inning, walking one man for his tenth save.

The series and home stand wind up with a special Father's Day game, starting at 5:05 p.m. Hartford will go for the series win, with righthander Ryan Castellani on the mound against righthander J.T. Brubaker for Altoona. The game will be broadcast on AM 1410 WPOP and on iHeart Radio
