HARTFORD, - Hartford Wolf Pack general manager Chris Drury announced today that the parent New York Rangers have reassigned goaltender Brandon Halverson and defenseman Sergey Zborovskiy to the Wolf Pack from its ECHL affiliate, the Greenville Swamp Rabbits.
Halverson, a second-year pro and second-round Ranger draft pick (59th overall) in 2014, is 7-11-2 in 22 games with the Swamp Rabbits this season, with a 3.87 goals-against average and a 90.0% save percentage. Last year as a rookie, the 6-4, 208-pound Halverson saw action in 26 games with the Wolf Pack, going 9-16-0 with a 3.45 GAA and an 88.7% save percentage. In nine ECHL outings with Greenville in 2016-17, the Traverse City, MI native was 4-5-0, with a 3.44 GAA, an 89.7% save percentage and one shutout.
Prior to turning pro, Halverson, 21, spent three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, compiling an 85-49-7 record, a 2.97 GAA, 90.4% save percentage and nine shutouts in 147 career games.
Zborovskiy is a 20-year-old rookie out of the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League. A 6-4, 197-pound native of Moscow, Russia, Zborovskiy ranks second in point-scoring, and tied for second in goals and assists, among Greenville defensemen this season, with five goals and 11 assists for 16 points in 36 games. He has also logged 20 minutes in penalties.
A third-round selection (79th overall) by the Rangers in 2015, Zborovskiy was a WHL East Second-Team All-Star selection last season, after he led the league in plus/minus with a +72 in 63 games with the Pats. He also contributed seven goals and 33 assists for 40 points to the Regina attack, and had 64 penalty minutes, and won a Bronze Medal with the Russian team at the World Junior Championship.
In 198 career WHL contests with the Pats over three seasons, Zborovskiy totaled 18 goals and 66 assists for 84 points, plus 195 PIM.
