Goalie Sauve Loaned to Idaho

Des Moines, IA - The Iowa Stars today announced that goaltender Phil Sauve has been loaned to the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL.

Sauve, 27, has appeared in 12 games with Iowa this season, registering a 5-5 record. In 550 minutes, Sauve allowed 39 goals and had a 4.25 GAA.

The Buffalo, NY native signed as a free agent to a one year AHL contract with Iowa on August 29, 2007. The 6-0, 190-pound goaltender was drafted in the second round (38th overall) of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft by the Colorado Avalanche. Sauve made his NHL debut with Colorado on October 18, 2003 where he made 19 saves in a 6-3 loss at Edmonton. Named MVP of the NHL Young Stars Game during NHL All Star Weekend on February 7, 2004, he was soon traded by Colorado to the Calgary Flames. Phil Sauve is the son of former NHL goaltender Bob Sauve.
