Gladiators Weekly Update for the Week oF March 2nd

Atlanta Gladiators News Release
Shorthanded: The Gladiators notched a season-high three shorthanded goals in Friday's 6-3 win over the Charlotte Checkers. With three shorthanded goals in Friday's game, Gwinnett has posted 11 shorthanded goals this season. The Gladiators currently share 6th in the ECHL for most shorthanded goals this season with Cincinnati.
With Gwinnett: Brennan Turner notched his first goal with the Gladiators in Gwinnett's 6-4 loss to South Carolina on Sunday. The rookie now has three goals on the season as he began the year with the Fresno Falcons before being reassigned to Gwinnett on December 26th.
Tying a Career High: Andy Brandt had 3 points for Gwinnett for the second consecutive game notching 2 goals and an assist for the Gladiators in a 6-3 win over the Charlotte Checkers on Februray 27th. The three points for Brandt tied a career high for the Wausau, Wisconsin native as he had 3 points for Gwinnett in the Gladiators 6-3 win over Florida on February 22nd. It tied his career high originally set on March 15, 2008 at Columbia.
Back from the "A": Defenseman Jean Claude Sawyer was reassigned to Gwinnett Februray 26th by the Chicago Blackhawks from the Rockford IceHogs. Sawyer appeared in 5 games with Rockford while on recall but did not register a point for the IceHogs in his latest stint in the AHL. He was called up from Gwinnett on January 31st.
Jumping in: Jean Claude Sawyer has posted points in each of the games he has played in with Gwinnett since being re-assigned from Rockford. He had a goal and an assist for Gwinnett in the Gladiators 6-3 win over the Charlotte Checkers on February 27th. He added an assist in his second game back with Gwinnett on March 1st in the Gladiators 6-4 loss to South Carolina. Sawyer has 3 goals and 8 assists in 20 ECHL games this season.
Quick! The Gladiators came up just one second short of tying a team record for fastest two goals in a game. Gwinnett had goals 9 seconds apart in a 6-3 win over Charlotte on February 27th. Pat Bateman notched the Gladiators 3rd goal in the contest at 3:14 of the second period while Jean Claude Sawyer had the Gladiators 4th goal just 9 seconds later. Gwinnett's team record for fasted two goals in one game is 8 seconds apart which has ocurred three times in team history.
