Gk Harrison Returns to Isles

The Harrisburg City Islanders are proud to announce the signing of goalkeeper Chase Harrison, pending USSF.

Harrison rejoins the City Islanders after a one-year tour of stints with different clubs in the USL and MLS. Last year, he signed with Crystal Palace Baltimore, starting in two games with a 0-0-2 record. Harrison was then sent on loan to the Richmond Kickers, starting in two games, allowing two goals and saving five shots. In September, he was called up to MLS's legacy club, D.C. United to backup starter Troy Perkins. In October, he signed with the Columbus Crew for their playoff run.

As a City Islander in 2009, Harrison started in sixteen games recording an impressive 8-4-4 record. With a 0.812 GAA (goals against average) and ten shutouts, he was the 2009 USL-2 GAA Champion and All-League Second-Team goalkeeper. Harrison also saved 54 shots and allowed just 13 goals.

Before signing with the City Islanders in March 2009, Harrison was a standout at Virginia Tech for four seasons. He appeared in 79 matches, recorded 24 shutouts with a 1.12 GAA. In his summers at Virginia Tech, the Huntington, WV native played for the West Virginia Chaos of the USL Premier Development League.

In his year at Virginia Tech, Harrison was drafted 26th overall of the 2006 MLS Supplemental Draft by Real Salt Lake and sent on loan to the Virginia Beach Mariners. Harrison appeared in two games for the Mariners before being waived by Real Salt Lake.

In 2007, Harrison signed with the Rochester Raging Rhinos. With the Raging Rhinos, he started 18 games, recorded 3 shutouts, 1.15 GAA, an 8-4-6 record and 84 saves.

Midseason 2008, Harrison was traded to the Portland Timbers and finished the 2008 season there starting in six games. He recorded an undefeated record of 1-0-5, allowing 9 goals and 1.76 GAA.

The Harrisburg City Islanders will open the regular season at the Skyline Sports Complex against the in-state rival Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Saturday, April 16th 7:00pm before traveling west for a rematch of the opener on Saturday, April 23rd 7:00pm.
