Gidora Makes Pro Debute; Edinburg Wins Game Three

HARLINGEN, Texas-The Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings welcomed back local kid and Harlingen South Alumnus Danny Gidora, who made his first career United League start Tuesday night at Harlingen Field.

But, he was not treated too kindly as the Edinburg Roadrunners snapped a three game win streak by defeating the WhiteWings 9-2 in game three of the series.

Roadrunners starting left fielder Tomochika Tsuboi led off the top of the first inning with a base hit single. Agustin Septimo got a head in the count at three balls and one strike, then belted a two run home run giving the Roadrunners an early 2-0 lead.

In the top of the second inning the visiting Roadrunners scores five runs off the bats of Bobby Rinard and Austin Frankers as errors in the infield doomed the Wings.

Starting pitcher Gidora went six innings allowing nine runs four of them being earned. Gidora later said "The crowd kind of stirred me up early on. I didn't have my best stuff early on."

It was a quiet night offensively for the Wings only collecting six hits on two runs. WhiteWings starting shortstop Troy Zawadzki went 2-for-3 on the night collecting one of the two RBI's on the night. Aaron Gates had another solid night at the plate going 2-for-3.

The series finale is set for Thursday as the Wings send Bobby O'Neill to the mound, with first pitch at 7:05. The series will continue Friday at Edinburg Baseball stadium as the Roadrunners will host a four game series.
