Vancouver Giants News Release

Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Giants General Manager Glen Hanlon announced today that the Giants have recalled 2002-born forward Justin Sourdif (Surrey, B.C.). The Giants first selection in the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft will make his WHL debut tonight when the Giants play host to the Kelowna Rockets at the Langley Events Centre at 7 PM.

Originally selected third overall by the Giants back in May, Sourdif (5'11", 152 pounds) signed a Standard WHL Player Agreement with the team later that month. In 29 games last season with the Delta Academy Bantam Prep team, Sourdif had 32 goals and 34 assists for 66 points. He was named 2017 HockeyNow Player of the Year for British Columbia.

In 11 games this season with the BCMML's top-ranked Valley West Hawks, Sourdif has registered seven goals along with 16 assists for 23 points. He currently sits tied for fifth in BCMML scoring. Last month Sourdif suited up for Team B.C. in the WHL Cup and finished the tournament with four goals and one assist in five games, helping his team to a gold medal. Sourdif was named a tournament all-star. Back in September, Sourdif appeared in two preseason games with the Giants.

As an under-ager, Sourdif can appear in a maximum of five games this season with the Vancouver Giants until his season with Valley West comes to an end. He will wear number 8 tonight for Vancouver.
