Vancouver Giants News Release

Kelowna, B.C. - Dawson Holt, Radovan Bondra and Thomas Foster all scored, but the Vancouver Giants lost 5-3 to the Kelowna Rockets on Friday night at Prospera Place.

Kelowna jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period thanks to goals from Kyle Topping and Dillon Dube. Holt pulled Vancouver back to within one before the end of the opening frame, scoring on the rebound of a point shot off a face-off win in the Rockets' zone.

Tomas Soustal re-established the two-goal lead for Kelowna when he beat Vancouver goalie Ryan Kubic on an odd-man rush less than two minutes into the second period, but the Rockets got into penalty trouble, and Bondra made it a one-goal game again, tallying his 16th of the season on a five-on-three power play. Cal Foote answered back with a power play goal of his own late in the stanza, and the Rockets led 4-2 after 40 minutes.

Foster bagged his fifth of the year on a man advantage with under three minutes left in the third period to make it 4-3, but Kole Lind scored for Kelowna less than a minute later when he capitalized on a defensive miscue in the Giants' zone to poke the puck past Kubic.

Kelowna out shot Vancouver 37-31. The Giants went 2-for-6 on the power play. Kubic made 32 stops in the losing cause.

The G-Men will be back at the Langley Events Centre on Sunday afternoon to host the Regina Pats. Puck drop is slated for 4:00pm. For tickets, click here or call 604.4.GIANTS (604.444.2687).
