Georgia Swarm Trades Brodie Macdonald to Vancouver
?(DULUTH, Ga.) - The Georgia Swarm have traded goaltender Brodie MacDonald to the Vancouver Stealth for a conditional fifth round pick in the 2020 NLL Draft. The team has also placed lefty forward Jordan Hall and righty transition player Joel White on the Holdout List prior to the first weekend of training camp.
"Brodie has been a key part to our success and has been a great teammate here in Georgia," Swarm Owner and General Manager John Arlotta said. "This move gives him the opportunity to compete for more playing time in Vancouver. We wish him the best."
During the 2017 season, MacDonald served as the Swarm's backup goaltender behind Mike Poulin. He was between the pipes for 153:52 min. and finished with a 1-1 record, 11.7 GAA, and a .767 SV%. MacDonald was the Swarm's primary goaltender in 2016, having played in 823:49 min. to finish with a 6-7 record, 12.82 GAA and .749 SV%. In the 2016 postseason, the netminder was handed the loss in the knockout round against the New England Black Wolves, posting a 13.78 GAA and a .731 SV% in 60:57 min.
During his time with the Swarm, the Vernon, B.C. native played in 1,239:40 min. and posted an 8-12 record. MacDonald has 800 saves, a 12.92 GAA and a .750 SV%. Georgia acquired MacDonald in an offseason trade with Edmonton prior to the 2015 NLL season.
Hall, 33, finished third on the team in points with 80 (20G, 60A) and collected 70 loose balls while causing five turnovers in 18 regular season games. In the postseason, Hall finished with 18 points (12G, 6A), 18 loose balls, and two turnovers. Hall was awarded the 2017 Sportsmanship Award following the season.
White, 28, played in seven regular season games in 2017, posting six points (1G, 5A), 67 loose balls, and 6 caused turnovers. During the postseason, White recorded nine points (3G, 6A) while collecting 31 loose balls and causing seven turnovers. He scored the game-tying goal in Game 2 of the Champion's Cup Finals to force overtime, allowing the Swarm the opportunity it needed to win its first-ever Champion's Cup in franchise history.
"Both Joel and Jordan will be unable to play with us at this time due to family considerations," Arlotta said. "We're hopeful they'll be able to rejoin the team later on this season."
Georgia will open its first training camp session this weekend in Six Nations. The Swarm will participate in three total sessions before opening the season on the road against New England on Dec. 8.
