Gens Can't Hang on Against Knights

London, Ontario - The Oshawa Generals were defeated by the London Knights by the score of 4-3 at the Budweiser Gardens in front of a crowd of 8,725. The Generals grabbed an early 3-0 lead in the first, but couldn't hold on as a strong comeback from the Knights resulted in London finsihing with the 4-3 victory. Daniel Altshuller was fantastic in the first two periods, standing on his head to turn away the powerful London offense, but was simply overpowered in the third.

The Generals took London by surprise, taking the lead minutes into the period. Bradley Latour took a shot from the point, which bounced off a London player and past former Oshawa goalie Kevin Bailie who made the start for London. Boone Jenner and Geoffrey Schemitsch also added goals for the Generals, with Jenner's coming on another bounce off a Knight, while Schemitsch picked up a rebound and roofed it on the backhand. Schemitsch's goal came on the powerplay.

The second period was a different story as the London Knights tried to regain control of the game with a strong, aggressive style of play. The momentum went back and forth as both teams jostled for control. Later on in the period, London applied a strong fore-check as well as constant net presence, which resulted in London getting several good scoring chances, but Altshuller turned them all away.

The third period started out very similar to the second as both teams battled it out for control. London continued to pour on the pressure as they peppered Altshuller with shots. London gained momentum as Max Domi scored two powerplay goals to bring the Knights within one, and the arena to its feet. As the pressure increased, every shot became the one that could change the game. The Knights continued to storm the crease, and finally tied the game up as Bo Horvat outwaited the Generals netminder and shot it just over the shoulder of Altshuller.

As the game went in to Overtime, the tension for both teams was through the roof. With the Knights on the PP, Seth Griffith completed the comeback with a onetimer to give London the win.

Boone Jenner was the lone star for the Generals, while the shots finished at 43-37 for London.

The Generals return home Friday as they take on the Belleville Bulls. Puck drop is at 7:35pm at the General Motors Centre.
