Adirondack Thunder News Release

WHO: Adirondack Thunder (40-24-3-4) @ Brampton Beast (28-33-6-4)

WHAT: ECHL REGULAR SEASON GAME #970

WHEN: Sunday, April 8, @ 2:00 PM

WHERE: Powerade Centre - Brampton, ONT

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: The Adirondack Thunder are back in action to take on the Brampton Beast in their final game of the 2017-18 regular season. Adirondack enters today's matchup off of a 3-2 victory over the Manchester Monarchs on Friday evening in Glens Falls.

NORTH NUMERO UNO: The Adirondack Thunder enter Brampton with 87 points in the North Divisions Standings, tied with the Reading Royals for first place. Adirondack can clinch the Division title for the second straight season with a victory over Brampton today or a Manchester regulation loss. The Thunder would also clinch the title with one point if Manchester also earned just one point.

PLAYOFF POSITIONING: Adirondack will begin the 2018 Kelly Cup Playoffs on Friday, April 13 at Cool Insuring Arena. The Thunder will play either the Reading Royals or Worcester Railers in the first round of playoff action. If Adirondack wins the North Division it will host Worcester on Friday and if the Thunder finish second, it will host Reading in round one.

COMIC CON-ACHER: Thunder forward Shane Conacher tallied the game's first goal in Friday's 3-2 victory. Conacher's goal gives him 20 tallies and 63 points from 54 games played on the season. Conacher's 1.17 points per game ranks third in the ECHL amongst players with at least 50 games played. The Burlington, ONT native is also tied with Peter MacArthur for the single-season franchise record for points in a season.

BACK IN BLACK-WOOD: Adirondack netminder Mackenzie Blackwood turned aside 37 of the 39 shots he faced in Friday's victory. Blackwood's win marked his second from four starts this season as he improved to 2-1-1 with the Thunder. The 6-4 netminder's 37 saves were also an ECHL career high and the most saves he's made at any level since January 15 with the AHL's Binghamton Devils.

INTO THIN AARON: Thunder defenseman Aaron Titcomb made his professional debut on Friday against Manchester and tallied an assist on Conacher's game-opening goal. The 6-4 blueliner joined the Thunder earlier this week on an amateur try out from Merrimack College, where he amassed 14 points (1-13-14) over 102 games from four years of NCAA Hockey.

SYRACUSE BOUND: Adirondack forward Troy Bourke appeared in his first AHL game since October last evening in a 1-0 victory for the Syracuse Crunch. Bourke has now skated in two AHL games with Syracuse this season, in addition to 22 games with Adirondack. The 5-10 forward has amassed 32 points (10-22-32) with the Thunder, good for a team-best 1.45 points per game pace.
