Adirondack Thunder News Release

WHO: Adirondack Thunder (39-23-3-4) vs. Worcester Railers (34-26-4-4)

WHAT: ECHL REGULAR SEASON GAME #933

WHEN: Sunday, April 1, @ 5:00 PM

WHERE: Cool Insuring Arena - Glens Falls, NY

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: The Adirondack Thunder are back in action this evening for their penultimate regular season home game. Adirondack enters tonight's contest off of a convincing 6-2 win over the Reading Royals last evening as it pulled within one point of the North Division lead.

NORTH BY NORTH DIVISION: The Thunder are in a tightly contested North Division race and are vying for their second straight divisional title. Adirondack has locked up a top three seed in the playoffs and currently sits one point out of the division lead behind the Manchester Monarchs. Adirondack and Manchester will square off in one final meeting on Friday, April 6 at Cool Insuring Arena.

THE MAN OF MARCH: Thunder forward Shane Conacher finished the month of March last evening with a bang as he collected two goals and an assist in the victory. Conacher netted 18 points (8-10-18) from 12 games played during March, tied for the second most points in the ECHL in that span. The Canisius College graduate tops the Thunder's scoring chart on the season with 61 points (19-43-61) from 52 games played.

TROY MEETS WORLD: Adirondack forward Troy Bourke led the Thunder last evening with four points in the 6-2 victory. Bourke's four-point effort was his second of the season and the sixth game that he has collected three or more points. The 5-10 center has amassed 31 points (9-22-31) from 20 games played and his 1.55 points per game pace is tied for third leaguewide.

WHISKEY AND RYAN: Thunder forward Ryan Schmelzer joined Conacher and Bourke with three-plus points last evening as he netted a goal and two assists in the victory. The 6-3 center has tallied five points (2-3-5) from four games played with Adirondack and both of his goals have come on the man advantage. Schmelzer is the tenth Thunder player to tally multiple power-play goals on the season.

MACK BLACK HEADS BACK: The NHL's New Jersey Devils have reassigned goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood to Adirondack. Blackwood has posted a 1-0-1 record in two games with the Thunder this season, along with a .918 save percentage and a 2.43 goals against average. The 6-4 netminder was originally a second round draft pick by New Jersey in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

WINNING WAYS: With last night's victory over Reading, the Adirondack Thunder won for the 21st time on home ice this season and the 39th time overall. Adirondack is now one win shy of tying its franchise record for home wins in a season and two shy of knotting the overall wins record, both of which were set last season. The Thunder have three regular season games remaining, including two on home ice.
