Prince Albert Raiders News Release
Prince Albert, SK - The Prince Albert Raiders (17-40-4-2) got their revenge on Saturday night as they skated to a 4-2 victory over the Saskatoon Blades (24-30-6-2) at the Art Hauser Centre.
The win gave the Raiders a split of the weekend home-and-home series following Friday's loss in Saskatoon.
Cavin Leth got the Raiders on the board midway through the first period. He finished off a cross-ice pass from Cole Fonstad on the power play to score his 19th goal of the season, putting the Raiders up 1-0.
That lead held until midway through the second period. Michal Farren scored on a shot that fooled goaltender Ian Scott, knotting the game at 1-1 after two periods.
In the third, Simon Stransky gave the Raiders the lead. He snapped a shot past Logan Flodell at the 4:58 to put the Raiders up 2-1. Two minutes later, Kolten Olynek jammed a puck through Flodell to give the Raiders a two-goal advantage.
In the final two minutes, Braylon Shmyr brought the Blades back within one when he finished off a Jesse Shynkaruk pass. It was as close as the visitors got. Curtis Miske recovered the puck following a shot blocked by Leth and buried the puck into the empty net, rounding out the score at 4-2.
Scott had another strong start against the Blades, making 21 saves to earn the victory. Flodell stopped 23 Raider shots in the loss.
Up next for the Raiders is a date with the Medicine Hat Tigers on Wednesday night at the Art Hauser Centre as they continue their home stand. Puck drop is 7 p.m. Tickets are available at raiderhockey.com, the Raider Office or by calling 306-764-5348.
