Langley, B.C. - The Prince Albert Raiders (5-15-1-0) couldn't erase a three-goal first period in a 5-3 loss to the Vancouver Giants (10-12-0-0) at the Langley Events Centre on Wednesday night.

The Giants opened the game's scoring at the 6:48 mark of the frame when Radovan Bondra's wrist shot beat goaltender Ian Scott. Less than two minutes later, Matt Barberis extended the Giants lead to two. Midway through the period, Bondra was awarded a penalty shot and beat Scott five-hole to give the Giants a 3-0 lead heading into the intermission.

In the second, Thomas Foster found the back of the net 2:04 into the frame to give the Giants a four-goal lead. That ended Scott's night after 22 minutes and seven saves. The Raiders got on the board with 3:57 to play in the second. Loch Morrison's long outlet pass found Carson Miller at the Giants' blue line. He saucered a pass over to Cole Fonstad, who scored his third goal of the season on the backhand to make it 4-1 after 40 minutes.

Bondra completed his hat trick 8:37 into the third period to restore Vancouver's four-goal lead. Cavin Leth scored late in the third, knocking home a rebound on Spencer Moe's shot with 3:29 to play, making it a 5-2 game. About 90 seconds later, Sean Montgomery collected a rebound in front of the net, turned and scored to bring the Raiders within two, but it was as close as they would come.

Sanders was strong in relief for the Raiders, finishing the game with 11 saves on 12 attempts. David Tendeck stopped 24 shots to pick up the win for the Giants.

The Raiders close out their B.C. road trip on Friday night in Prince George against the Cougars. Game time is 9 p.m. CST. The next Raiders' home game is on Wednesday, November 23 against the Swift Current Broncos. Puck drop at the Art Hauser Centre is 7 p.m.
