Raiders Downed By Blades In Saskatoon

Saskatoon, SK - The Prince Albert Raiders (16-40-4-2) dropped a close game in Saskatoon to the Blades (24-29-6-2) on Friday night at SaskTel Centre.

The goaltenders were stars of the first period as Ian Scott and Logan Flodell backstopped their respective teams to perfect periods.

The Blades opened the scoring in the second period. Josh Paterson was left alone in front of the net and beat Scott just as a Raiders' penalty expired. Less than two minutes later at the 14:26 mark, Curtis Miske tied the game. The Beaumont, AB product found himself alone in front of Logan Flodell and tucked it around the Blades netminder to make it a 1-1 game. However, the Blades restored their lead 30 seconds later when Braylon Shmyr finished off a backdoor pass from Mason McCarty on the power play.

In the third, the Blades extended their lead to 3-1. Libor Hajek walked in from the point and snapped a puck through Scott. The Raiders pulled Scott for the final four minutes, but were unable to solve Flodell again to get any closer.

Scott finished the game with 20 saves in a losing effort. Flodell, who was named the game's first star, stopped 29 shots to earn the win.

The Raiders will have a chance at redemption on Saturday night when they host the Blades in a rematch at the Art Hauser Centre. Game time is 7 p.m. For tickets, visit raiderhockey.com, call 306-764-5348 or head to the Raider Office.
