Late Rallies Fall in Favor of River Cats

The Isotopes (28-28) lost in extra innings for the first time at home this season as the Sacramento River Cats (22-33) took the series finale 5-4 in 10 innings Sunday evening at Isotopes Park.

Albuquerque led, 4-3, heading into the ninth, but the River Cats compiled one run and three hits off of Isotopes closer Matt Carasiti to tie the game. The blown save was Carasiti's first of the season, as he entered the night 11-for-11 in saves opportunities.

Sacramento took the lead for good in top of the 10th when Juan Ciriaco executed a squeeze play allowing John Polonius to come home for the game-winning run.

Albuquerque was trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the eighth before Noel Cuevas hit a game-tying RBI double and scored on Derrik Gibson's single to put the Isotopes ahead by one. Cuevas finished the game a home run shy of the cycle, going 3-for-4 with a double, triple two runs scored and a stolen base. The 25-year-old outfielder is now hitting .333 on the year.

Albuquerque starter Barry Enright received a no-decision, despite allowing only three run in 6.2 innings for his third quality start of the season. Catcher Tom Murphy played in his second rehab game for the Isotopes, going 0-for-3 for the second straight night.

The Isotopes welcome the El Paso Chihuahuas (Triple-A Padres) to Isotopes Park Monday evening for the first time in 2017. Matt Flemer (2-4, 6.86) will get the ball for Albuquerque in the series opener while El Paso will turn to right-hander Andre Rienzo (1-0, 3.03). The game is scheduled to get underway at 7:05 p.m.
