Casey Brown (1-0, 5.40) got the win for Lakewood and Will Hibbs collected his eighth save of the season with 2.0 scoreless innings for the Claws.

The Intimidators came out hot in the first three innings of the game. Joel Booker led off the game with a single to left field. He moved to second on Jameson Fisher's 4-pitch walk and then to third after Courtney Hawkins reached first with a strikeout-passed ball. A ground out by Micker Adolfo was enough to plate Booker for an early 1-0 lead after the first.

In the second inning, Mitch Roman led off with a line drive to left field. Zach Remillard hit his 13th double of the season and collected an RBI, driving Roman home and allowing Kannapolis a 2-0 lead.

In the bottom of seven, Hickman walked a batter then hit the following batter. Luke Williams got a base knock to load the bases with one out. Wright came in for relief and looked to make quick work of the situation, striking out the first batter he saw. Wright almost ended the inning by striking out Enmanuel Garcia, but a wild pitch allowed the BlueClaw to reach first and gave Lakewood its first run.

Another wild pitch brought a run across the plate for Lakewood, creating a 4-2 game. A walk loaded the bases and a single plated two more runs to create a tied ball game.

Kannapolis turned to Kyle Kubat to face Mickey Moniak, who cleared the bases and brought home two more runs with a double and a 6-4 Lakewood lead.
