ANCHORAGE, AK. - Eagles forward Jackson Houck posted his first professional hat trick, as Colorado won its 11th consecutive contest with a 6-2 victory over the Alaska Aces on Saturday. Goaltender Lukas Hafner stopped 41 of Alaska's 43 shots to claim the win in net, while six different Eagles skaters registered a multi-point performance.

Eagles defenseman Matt Register got Colorado off on the right foot when he grabbed a pass from forward Casey Pierro-Zabotel in the slot and snapped the puck past Aces goalie Kevin Carr on a 5-on-3 power play at the 10:23 mark of the first period. The goal was Register's 12th tally of the season and gave the Eagles the 1-0 advantage.

As time wound down in the opening frame, Colorado would earn itself another power play and would again find the back of the net. Houck slammed the puck off the leg pad of Carr, sending it spinning into the air and allowing Houck to smack it past Carr to give the Eagles the 2-0 lead with just 2:44 remaining in the first period.

Colorado kept the foot on the gas in the second period, as forward Shawn St-Amant would cruise down the left wing and power a shot past Carr to grow the Eagles lead to 3-0 at the 7:15 mark of the middle frame. Just over seven minutes later, Houck would sprawl across the low slot and lift a loose puck into the back of the net to give Colorado a 4-0 advantage, The goal would also spell the end of the night for Carr, who would give way to Michael Garteig between the pipes.

Houck's hat trick would reach its completion when Colorado capitalized on a power play that saw Houck stuff a puck into the net on the side of the post with just 1:33 left in the second period, giving the Eagles a 5-0 lead.

Alaska would finally strike back when forward Yan-Pavel LaPlante went racing down the ice on a shorthanded breakaway, beating Hafner with a backhander to slice the Colorado advantage to 5-1 with only 43 seconds left in the second period.

Moving into the third period the Aces would again cut into the Eagles lead when forward Tim Coffman snapped a wrist shot from the slot that would light the lamp, trimming the Colorado advantage to 5-2 with 1:25 gone in the final frame.

The Eagles would find an answer later in the third period when St-Amant deflected a pass from forward Luke Salazar on the power play, sending it bouncing past Garteig and putting Colorado on top 6-2 with 5:31 remaining in regulation. Alaska would not come any closer, as the Eagles would hold on for the 6-2 victory.

Colorado would finish the night going 4-for-9 on the power play, while also posting a perfect 6-for-6 mark on the penalty kill.

The Eagles conclude their six-game road trip when they take on the Alaska Aces on Sunday, February 19th at 5:05pm MT at Sullivan Arena in Anchorage, AK.
