Solar Bears Add Jarrett Rush:

Rush (6'5", 216 lbs.) comes to the Solar Bears after competing in four games with the Elmira Jackals (ECHL) at the start of the season and one game with the Augusta Riverhawks of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL). Rush split last season between the Jackals and the Brooklyn Aviators of the Federal Hockey League (FHL), playing in 33 games with Elmira and registering two assists and serving as the captain of the Brooklyn Aviators. He played the entire 2010-11 season with Brooklyn, compiling 17 points (1 goal, 2 assists) along with 59 penalty minutes (PIM) and was elected to the All-FHL Team.

Matchup:

The Solar Bears and Wings play the second of a three game series this afternoon after Orlando earned a 4-2 victory last night. The Solar Bears opened up the scoring with a power play goal just past the midway point of the first period, but Kalamazoo answered before the end of the frame. The second period belonged to Orlando, who notched three goals in the middle stanza to carry a 4-1 lead into the third period. The Wings scored early in the third, but that was as close as it would get as the Solar Bears collected a 4-2 victory.

Solar Bears Notes:

RW Chris Lawrence made his Solar Bears debut last night and tallied three assists... The line combination of F Olivier Fortier, F Scott Tanski, and Lawrence accounted for two goals and five assists... The Solar Bears scored first for the fourth time this season and are 4-0-0-0 under those circumstances... Orlando has outscored its opponents 17-9 in the second period... D Kyle Medvec remains out of the lineup and is not expected to play today... D Bryce Lampman will be unavailable today as he returned home for a family matter earlier this week... D Sean Lorenz will be out today... The Solar Bears expect that G Mike Brodeur will be cleared to begin skating by the end of next week... RW B.J. Crombeen is expected play his second Solar Bears game today, and will be a game-by-game decision for future games... D Mike Liambas remains on the 21-day IR, but has resumed skating drills.

Wings Notes:

Kalamazoo has surrendered the game's first goal just four times, but are winless (0-4-0-0) when their opponent scores first... D Sam Ftorek and D Elgin Reid combined for a power play in the first period last night, extending Ftorek's point streak to six games and Reid's point streak to four games... Ftorek is tied for the league lead among defensemen with 15 points... Kalamazoo has now lost two straight road games for the first time this season... The Wings are 5-0-0-0 when leading after one period.
