The Solar Bears and Everblades come together for the middle contest of a three game set after the Everblades put an end to Orlando's nine game unbeaten streak (8-0-0-1) on home ice. The Solar Bears struck first when RW Chris Lawrence finished off a rebound in front of the net 5:01 into the game, but Florida came right back to even up the score just 1:40 later. The Everblades tallied twice in the late stages of the second period and held the Solar Bears off the board in the third to skate away with a 3-1 win. The game marked the first time this season that the Solar Bears have lost to Florida at the Amway Center, as the Solar Bears are now 3-1-0-0 at home against Florida and 6-3-1-0 against the Everblades overall this season.
Solar Bears Notes:
D Derick Martin picked up his 500th career penalty minute last night... The Solar Bears lost in regulation for just the second time when scoring the game's first goal at home. Orlando is now 9-2-0-1 when scoring first on their home ice... C Ryan Cruthers had his seven game point streak (6 goals, 3 assists) snapped yesterday. It was the longest such streak of the season for Orlando... Last night's game was only the 11th time this season the Solar Bears have faced a South Division rival on home ice. They have faced opponents from the South Division 17 times on the road... G Patrick Killeen started his fourth straight game for the Solar Bears yesterday... G Mike Brodeur, D Sean Lorenz, D Jesse Dudas and D Josh Caron remain on the 21-day IR... G John Curry remains on reserve and is not expected to dress tonight.
Everblades Notes:
LW Mathieu Roy picked up two assists last night to set a new career high for a points in a season, currently with 48. His current total of 48 points ties him for 10th in the ECHL... D Olivier Dame-Malka is second among defensemen with 119 shots on goal, tied for second among defensemen with five power play goals, and is fifth among defensemen with 30 minor penalties... Florida is tied for second in the league with nine shorthanded goals... Florida is 2nd on the power play at 22.7 percent (47-for-207) and 16th on the penalty kill at 80.7 percent (146-for-181)... LW Mathieu Roy leads the Everblades in assists (32), and points (48), and is tied with F Andrew Pistilli with 16 goals.
