Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

GENVA, IL -- The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers banged out 11 hits in game one of a doubleheader at Elfstrom Stadium and beat the Kane County Cougars 7-2. John Delaney and Michael Vass had two RBI a piece and the Rattlers kept the Cougars from clinching a Midwest League playoff spot

Delaney's two-out RBI single in the first inning put the Rattlers (34-34) in front. Juan Sanchez put Wisconsin up 2-0 with an RBI double in the top of the second inning.

Wisconsin knocked Kane County starting pitcher Matt Fitts out of the game in the third inning. Fitts walked the first two hitters of the inning. Jose Duran followed with an RBI double. Vass delivered a two-run single for a 5-0 lead and Fitts was pulled from the game.

Reliever Trey Barham walked the first batter he faced and -- after a strikeout -- gave up infield single to Michael Marseco that loaded the bases. Corey Kemp put the Rattlers up 6-0 with an RBI single and Delaney made it 7-0.

Kane County (39-29) got to Rattlers starter Alex Periard in the bottom of the third inning. A two-out RBI single by Steve Kleen cut the Wisconsin lead to six, but Periard got out of the frame and stranded two Cougars base runners.

Periard reached his pitch count with two outs and a runner at first in the bottom of the fourth. Liam Ohlmann relieved and got the final out of the frame.

Then, Wily Peralta came on for the bottom of the fifth. He would pitch three innings, allow one run on four hits, and strike out four to pick up his second win of the season.
