Game Day Preview: Pats Kick off Final Week of the Regular Season against Prince Albert

The Regina Pats (38-25-5-1) are back on home ice Wednesday to kick off the final week of the regular season against the Prince Albert Raiders (32-25-9-3). Puck drop is at 7 p.m. at the Brandt Centre. The Pats won a fifth straight game on Saturday night in Lethbridge, 5-3 over the Hurricanes. The Raiders meanwhile visited Moose Jaw last night and fell 2-1 in a shootout. Tonight is the eighth and final meeting on the season between the Pats and Raiders, Regina holds a 7-0-0-0 record in the season series. The game can be heard starting at 6:35 with Bennett Dunlop Ford Pats Hockey on 620 CKRM.

The Lead Up: Pats finish Central Division road trip with perfect 5-0-0-0 record

The Regina Pats won a fifth straight game on Saturday night, 5-3 in Lethbridge over the Hurricanes. The Pats got first period goals from Koby Morrisseau, his sixth and then Jesse Gabrielle scored his 13th and it was 2-0 after the first. In the second, Nick Henry extended the lead to 3-0 when he scored on a breakaway for his 13th. Robbie Holmes then made it 4-0 with his 16th, but the Hurricanes got two back late in the period and it was 4-2 after two. In the third, the Hurricanes drew to within a goal, but Sam Steel would seal the victory with an empty netter for his 31st and 5-3 was the final score. Jesse Gabrielle led the offence with a goal and two assists, while Max Paddock made 27 saves.

Head to Head

Tonight is the eighth and final meeting of the season between the Pats and Raiders, Regina holds a 7-0-0-0 record so far in the season series. The Pats have outscored the Raiders 25-15 in the first seven games. Matt Bradley leads Regina with four goals and 10 points against P.A. Jake Leschyshyn and Cameron Hebig both have eight points while Sam Steel has seven. The Raiders Jordy Stallard has put up seven points in the season series, Curtis Miske has five and Regan Nagy four points.

Morrisseau Heating Up

Pats forward Koby Morrisseau is enjoying the best offensive stretch of his WHL career. The 17-year-old has found a home centering the clubs third line and in his last seven games has scored four goals and has two assists for six points. The Grandview, Manitoba product has gone plus five in that stretch and is up to 12 points total on the season.

Paddock Rolling

Pats goaltender Max Paddock comes into Wednesday having won 11 of his last 14 appearances. The 17-year-old is 11-2-0-1 in that stretch, putting up a 2.40 G.A.A. and a .916 save percentage. For the season, the Brandon product holds the fifth best goals against average in the WHL at 2.98 and the 11th best save percentage at .901.
