GAME DAY PREVIEW: Pats Continue Road Stretch in Calgary Sunday

The Regina Pats (14-12-2-0) play a seventh straight road game in Calgary against the Hitmen (8-15-3-1). Regina time at the Scotiabank Saddledom. The Pats are coming off a 4-2 win in Red Deer which snapped a three game losing streak. The Hitmen were in Red Deer on Saturday and beat the Rebels 4-3 in a shootout.
The Regina Pats got back into the win column thanks to a 4-2 road win over the Red Deer Rebels. The Pats jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the opening period after Sam Steel scored on the powerplay for his 11th and then Jake Leschyshyn added his sixth. In the second, Red Deer got one back on a five on three powerplay and it was 2-1 Regina after 40 minutes. In the third, Matt Bradley scored on the powerplay, his team leading 18th, to make it a 3-1 game. The Rebels drew to within a goal with just over two minutes left but Sam Steel sealed it with an empty netter, his second of the night and 4-2 was the final score. The Pats outshot Red Deer 31-23, the powerplay was two for three and the penalty kill four for five. Sam Steel and Nick Henry led the way with three points each while Tyler Brown made 21 saves.
The Pats hold a 1-0-0-0 record against Calgary heading into today's second of four meetings. Regina won the first meeting on November 15, 4-2 at the Brandt Centre. Nick Henry and Sam Steel each had a goal and an assist while Matt Bradley and Emil Oksanen also scored in the victory. The Hitmen got a goal and an assist from Tristen Nielsen while Jake Bean and Vladislav Yeryomenko each had two assists.
Since being put together as a line, Sam Steel, Nick Henry and Matt Bradley have been putting up some good offensive numbers. The three have played together the last two games, each picking up five points. Steel has scored three goals and has two assists to reach 30 points on the season, second most on the team. Henry has a goal and four assists and sits with seven points in nine games while Matt Bradley has two goals and three assists in the last two games and leads the team with 18 goals and 33 points on the season.
With his two point effort on Friday night, Matt Bradley eclipsed the 200 point mark for his WHL career. In 237 games in the league, Bradley has scored 92 goals and has 109 assists for 201 points with the Pats and Medicine Hat Tigers. He is on pace to pass his previous career highs for a season set last year with 34 goals and 43 assists.
