The Story Coming In

The Medicine Hat Tigers returned home from a three-game road trip to host the Prince George Cougars last night. The Tigers defeated the Cougars 4-1 in a night of firsts for this season. Rookie goaltender Mads Sogaard started the game and earned his first regulation win turning aside 22 of the 23 shots he faced. Veteran defenceman Linus Nassen opened the game with his first marker of the year while forward Ryan Jevne lit the lamp twice for his first two-goal night in his overage campaign. The Tigers are currently 4-5-0-1 and will look to build off last night's win.

Tigers vs. ICE

The Tigers and the ICE faced off on Sunday at the Western Financial Place in Kootenay with the ICE topping the Tabbies 5-0. It was the first meeting of these two Central Division rivals this season. Over the past five years, the Orange and Black are 18-3-1-0 against the ICE which includes a 10-1-0-0 record in Medicine Hat

The Kootenay ICE hosted the Regina Pats last night with the visitors coming out on top in a 3-2 contest. The ICE have a 3-3-0-0 record to start the season and are lead by 2019 NHL Draft eligible Peyton Krebs who has 2 goals and 7 assists in 6 games played so far this season.

Tigers Talent

Linus Nassen is back for his second season with the Orange and Black. The 20-year-old Norrtalje, Sweden native is a smooth skating, highly skilled defenceman. Nassen was drafted by the Florida Panthers in the 2016 NHL Draft. He has sharp puck skills and a high hockey IQ. Look for Nassen to make an impact in tonight's contest.

Captain's Corner

James Hamblin is the Captain of the 49th Edition of the Medicine Hat Tigers. The 19-year-old Edmonton native is a skilled, two way forward in his fourth season with the Orange and Black. "James brings a great deal of energy and passion to the rink every day. He is consistently our hardest worker and always leads by example. We are very fortunate to have him as our captain this season," said Assistant Coach Joe Frazer.

Dawson Heathcote scored his first Career WHL hat trick against the ICE October 20th, 2017.

The Tigers line of Ryan Chyzowski, Ryan Jevne and Tyler Preziuso were involved in all four goals in last night's contest. Chyzowski picked up two assists, Jevne scored two goals and Preziuso scored one goal and picked up an assist.

The Tigers' penalty kill has been 92.3% effective at home

Linus Nassen is averaging 1 point per game so far this season with 5 points (1G, 4A) in 5 games played.

The Medicine Hat Tigers are a junior hockey team in the Western Hockey League (WHL) who play out of Medicine Hat, AB and were established in 1970. In 48 seasons of playing major junior hockey, the Tigers have won 2 Scotty Munro Memorial Trophies, as well as, 210 playoff games which led to winning 43 playoff series, raising 33 banners, winning five Ed Chynoweth Cups and two Memorial Cups.
