G-Men Fall 5-1 to Royals

Victoria, B.C. - The Vancouver Giants fell 5-1 to the Victoria Royals at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre on Sunday afternoon. Brennan Menell scored Vancouver's lone goal.

The Royals jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first period. Victoria captain Joe Hicketts scored on a power play just before the midway mark before Jared Dmitriw beat Vancouver goaltender Ryan Kubic on a breakaway. Ethan Price tallied the Royals' third goal by knocking home a rebound from in the crease, and Dmitriw netted his second of the period just 15 seconds after Price's goal.

Brennan Menell nearly put the Giants on the board late in the second period when he wired a wrist shot off the post. Victoria extended the lead in the third period when Tyler Soy bagged his 25th goal of the year before Menell spoiled the shutout bid for Victoria goalie Coleman Vollrath, scoring off the rush with 1:36 left in the frame.

Vancouver returns to action on Friday when they visit the Kamloops Blazers. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00pm.
