Frontenacs Announce Commitment of Sergey Popov

Kingston - After a successful 2016-17 Orientation Camp with newly drafted prospects, the Kingston Frontenacs announced Sergey Popov has entered into a standard player agreement to join the team for the 2016-17 season. Popov, a 16 year-old Russian born forward, was selected in the 2nd round of the 2016 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection, 38th overall.

"We are excited to announce Sergey's commitment to the team or the upcoming season. Fans will love his style of play, and as a rookie, he'll look to make an immediate impact with the team with his great skill and vision on the ice," said Doug Gilmour, General Manager of the Kingston Frontenacs. "We look forward to seeing Sergey at Training Camp in August."

Popov, a five-foot-ten-inch forward scored 40 points (12 goals, 28 assists) in 33 games with the Toronto Jr. Canadian Minor Midget AAAA of the GTMMHL.

The Kingston Frontenacs open 2016-17 Training Camp the week of August 29. More information will be released closer to the dates.
