CORPUS CHRISTI - Frisco pushed across two runs in the 17th to outlast Corpus Christi 4-2 Thursday night at Whataburger Field before 5,020.

Tomas Telis began the decisive surge by singling to left off Patrick Urckfitz (1-1). Alejandro Selen's sacrifice bunt moved the RoughRiders catcher into scoring position. Telis stole third and scored the go-ahead run, Jonathan Meyer's throw striking him in the back after the Hooks third baseman fielded a chopper off the bat of Hanser Alberto.

Jared Hoying's RBI single - which plated Alberto - accounted for the final margin.

Though he gave up a lead-off double to Jiovanni Mier, Guilder Rodriguez (1-0), an infielder by trade, earned the win by contributing a scoreless 16th. Ben Rowen notched his first save.

Ninth-inning dramatics knotted the score at 2. With the RoughRiders down by a run and down to three outs, Brett Nicholas clanked an 0-2 pitch from Hooks closer Jason Stoffel off the right-field foul pole.

Enrique Hernandez' towering home run into a 25-mph north wind had given Corpus Christi a 2-1 seventh-inning advantage.

The Hooks second baseman leveraged Tyler Tufts 1-0 offering into the left-field Goodwill Zone.

Frisco stopper Wilmer Font dispatched the first six Corpus Christi batters post-regulation, recording five strikeouts. The Hooks loaded the bases against Ryan Rodebaugh in the 12th after Drew Muren's one-out hustling double off the glove of diving center fielder Ryan Strausborger, but came away empty.

Jorge De Leon threw four zeros at the RoughRiders from the 11th through 14th, facing the minimum. Rodebaugh recovered nicely to match the feat, working the 12th to the 16th and setting down four on strikes. That's when Rodriguez took over.

Neil Ramirez carved up Hooks hitters during the first two innings, striking out five of six while sporting a 95-mph fastball. He faced nine through three before lead-off man Austin Wates slapped a double into the left-field corner.

With it went the pitcher's command. Three walks later, Wates scored the night's first run, Ramirez issuing free passes to Mier, George Springer and Meyer during the sequence.

Ramirez went on to strike out seven over five innings and was touched for just one hit.

Aided by two errors, Frisco (9-4) drew even off Corpus Christi reliever Carlos Quevedo in the sixth. Alberto reached on an error by Meyer and advanced to second when Quevedo's pick-off attempt went wide of first. Odubel Herrera picked Alberto up with a liner into left field.

Hooks starter Jake Buchanan worked five prescribed, economical frames. The North Carolina State alum yielded two hits, plunked a man and benefited from two double plays. He threw only 51 pitches, 32 for strikes.

The Hooks, 7-6, have dropped four straight.

Hoying and Alex Buchholz have six-game hitting streaks for Frisco.
