Frederick Keys News Release

After picking up 35 hits in three games against the Potomac Nationals, the Frederick Keys' bats went cold on Friday night. Frederick scored just a run on four hits, as the Winston-Salem Dash defeated the Keys 4-1.

The Dash jumped out to an early lead in the first against Frederick RHP Kenny Moreland. With one on and two out, 3B Brent Morel blasted a two-run homerun to left, his 15th of the season.

Frederick cut the deficit in half in the second. With runners on the corners and two outs, LF David Cash slapped an RBI-single to left, making it 2-1.

Winston-Salem tacked on a couple more insurance runs in the sixth. With runners on first and second and two men down, CF Justin Greene ripped a ground ball double into the left field corner. The two-bagger scored two, and gave the Dash a 4-1 lead.

The Keys had an opportunity to tie the game up in the eighth. Dash RHP Charlis Burdie walked three batters in a row with two men down. With the bases loaded, RHP Santo Luis came into the game to face 3B Tyler Henson. He induced a fly ball to center field to end the threat.

LHP Justin Edwards (4-2) got the win for the Dash. He allowed just a run on four hits in six innings of work. Moreland (3-1) took the loss, after allowing four runs on five hits in 5.1 innings. Luis (10) recorded the final four outs to pick up the save.

The Keys will try to even the series up at a game apiece Saturday night at Harry Grove Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 PM. Fireworks will follow the game. LHP Zach Britton will get the start for Frederick. For ticket info, contact our box office at 1-877-8-GO-KEYS.
