York Revolution News Release

York, Pa.- Jared Mitchell bashed his first two home runs of the season to lead the York Revolution to a 5-2 win over the Somerset Patriots on Tuesday night at PeoplesBank Park. The win draws the Revs (9-9, 49-39) even with the Patriots (11-8, 49-40) in the series to set up a rubber matchup on Wednesday.

With the Revs down 1-0 in the fourth, Mitchell led off by belting a solo shot deep to left center to bring the Revs even. He followed that up in the next inning with a line shot over the big wall in right field for a two-out, two-run dinger to boost York's lead to 4-1.

"In those situations I was looking for something early in the count," said Mitchell of his dual blasts. "I wasn't sure exactly how he was going to attack me and I got the opportunity to get ahead of the count in both of those situations. He left pitches out over the plate and I was able to get good wood on it."

Frank Gailey (4-2) earned the win for the Revs after five-plus innings of two-run, seven-hit ball. Donovan Hand (3-3) took the loss after allowing five runs on nine hits in five innings.

Mike DeMark saved his 23rd game of the season, retying Somerset's Jon Hunton for the league lead. DeMark broke a tie with Juan Rincon for second-most single-season saves in Revolution history and now sits five back of Rommie Lewis's club record.

The Patriots went up 1-0 in the first on an Eric Farris RBI double, and the Revs made their move in the bottom of the fourth. After Mitchell's solo shot tied it, Joel Guzman followed with a single and scored two batters later on a Kevin Rivers double to make it 2-1 for the home side.

Michael Rockett led off the fifth with a single and went to second on a sac bunt, setting up Mitchell for his two-run dinger. Guzman drew a walk to bring up Andrez Perez, who promptly hit a gapper to right center for an RBI triple, making it 5-1.

David Vidal got a run back for Somerset in the sixth with a solo home run. The Patriots would get further chances as York relievers walked five men in the sixth and seventh innings. Manny Corpas and Scott Rice would battle through it, though, as Corpas induced a foul out to first to get out of the sixth and Rice stranded the bases loaded after a fielder's choice to short.

Ricardo Gomez worked out of his own bases-loaded jam in the eighth inning, striking out All-Star Eric Farris to lock down his ninth hold. He increases his stranglehold on the Revs' all-time ERA record with a career mark of 2.07. DeMark made easy work of Somerset in the ninth, striking out back-to-back Patriots to end it.

Mitchell finished 2-for-3 with the pair of home runs and three RBIs. Rockett notched two hits on his 29th birthday, going 2-for-4.

Aharon Eggleston went 2-for-3 with a run to lead the way for the Patriots.

Notes: Mitchell joins Telvin Nash (twice), Andres Perez (twice), and Isaias Tejeda with the sixth multi-home run game of the season for the Revs. York will lean on James Simmons (7-4, 4.01) in the rubber matchup against Somerset's Shaun Garceau (2-1, 4.17) on Wednesday night. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, woyk1350.com, and on the WOYK mobile app beginning at 6:10 p.m. with Darrell Henry and Will DeBoer on the call. Wednesday is Sensory Awareness Night at PeoplesBank Park. Wednesday is also another Kids Eat Free Night presented by PeoplesBank. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at yorkrevolution.com, on the phone at (717) 801-HITS, and in person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office.
