Four-Run Ninth Leads Nuts to 4-1 Win

San Jose, C.A. - Down by a run in the ninth, the Modesto Nuts mounted a comeback and defeated the San Jose Giants 4-1 at Municipal Stadium on Friday night.
Roberto Ramos started the ninth with a double off Giants (6-7) reliever Rodolfo Martinez (L, 0-1). Drew Weeks drove him in with a RRI single to tie the game. Wes Rogers came to the plate next and laid down a sac bunt back to the pitcher Martinez. The ensuing throw was sent down the line allowing the go-ahead run to score.
Max White added a sac fly. Forrest Wall recorded a RBI single.
Helmis Rodriguez (W, 1-0) was perfect out of the Nuts (7-8) bullpen retiring all nine he faced in three innings of work with three K's. Ryan Castellani was excellent in his start. The righty worked five innings and struck out eight without a walk and allowing just one run.
