Four Late Goals Propel 67's to Improbable Comeback Win

OTTAWA, ON - A furious four-goal third period comeback by the Ottawa 67's gave them two more crucial points in the eastern conference standings, as they stormed back to defeat the Owen Sound Attack Sunday afternoon.

For Ottawa, the win pulls them within a point of the Oshawa Generals for sixth in the east.

Owen Sound opened the game up with three goals, including two in quick succession during the second period from Brett McKenzie and Adam Dudas. Through 40 minutes, they had a 3-0 lead on the 67's.

But the 67's came out in the third with a new attitude and approach - and immediately had a goal on the board. Tye Felhaber got the first goal at the 30 second mark of the third on a high shot that beat former 67 Olivier Lafreniere in the Owen Sound net.

Just a minute later, Mitch Hoelscher had another goal for Ottawa, blowing by the defender with speed and wristing a laser beam on the low blocker of Lafreniere.

Then, it was Sasha Chmelevski going to work again.

The 67's leading goal scorer tied the game at 5:49, and then he struck again at 8:42. A howitzer of a wrist shot beat Lafreniere by caroming off the post and into the goal.

It was an offensive explosion, and in nine minutes the 67's turned a 3-0 deficit into a 4-0 victory over the Attack.

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING

On going down 3-0... "In my opinion, we played really hard in the first two periods. It came down to three mistakes for us. When you play against top end teams, your mistakes are going to cost you. And Owen Sound is 9-1 in their last 10."

On Ottawa's response... "The guys reacted really well - they came back in the third and were very confident. Getting the first goal right away was huge."

GAME NOTES

The win is the 67's 11th straight game registering a point in the standings - they are 8-0-1-2 in that span.

67's F Sasha Chmelevski's third period goals gave him his 11th goal in as many games - he leads the team with 28 of them.

His first goal was also his 50th in a 67's uniform.
