Four former Flash to play in Vegas

Las Vegas, NV, July 10, 2009- Four players with ties to the Utah Flash will be participating in the 2009 NBA Summer League presented by EA Sports which begins today in Las Vegas and runs through July 19.

The four former Flash players on summer squads in Las Vegas bring the total number of former Flash players on summer league rosters to nine after five other players wrap up play in the 2009 Pepsi Pro Summer League held in Orlando, Florida today.

The nine former Flash players are part of 108 former D-League players who are on NBA summer league rosters.

Ronald Dupree, who was acquired by the Flash in a mid-season trade last year, will see time with the Denver Nuggets summer squad-beginning July 14 against the San Antonio Spurs. In 31 regular season games with the Flash, Dupree averaged 16.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 3.9 assists. Dupree led the Flash in their run to the NBA Development League Finals-averaging a double-double throughout the playoffs.

Former Flash player and Utah Jazz assignee Morris Almond will be a part of the New York Knicks summer league roster, and will be in uniform when the Knicks take on the Memphis Grizzlies summer squad July 14.

Almond, the 2007-08 D-League Impact Player of the Year after averaging 25.6 points per game in 34 games, appeared in 14 games with the Flash during the 2008-09 season where he posted 23.9 points per game.

Rounding out the group of former Flash players to appear in Las Vegas are James Lang and Brandon Wallace-each making the summer league roster for the Washington Wizards. Lang saw time with the Flash in each of the last two seasons, averaging 7.0 points and 4.3 rebounds in 33 games during the 2008-09 season and 12.4 points and 6.9 rebounds in 48 games during the 2007-08 season.

Wallace appeared in just six games with the Flash in 2007-08 campaign on assignment from the Boston Celtics and averaged 12.5 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.

The Wizards first game will be July 14 against the Cleveland Cavaliers summer squad.

Flash Update From Orlando:

Kevin Kruger knocked down 16 points on 5-of-10 shooting in just over 22 minutes of play to help lift the Utah Jazz summer team to a 92-84 win over the Orlando Magic. Kruger finished 5-of-6 from the free-throw line-including a perfect 4-of-4 in the overtime period to cap the Jazz 23 point come-from-behind win in the Pepsi Pro Summer League.

Bill Walker scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds for the Celtics while J.R. Giddens added seven points and five boards in the Celtics 91-88 loss to the Indiana Pacers. Gabe Pruitt chipped in eight points in the Celtics loss as well.
