Forwards Alex Berry and Matt Pope Loaned by Hershey to Reading

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that the Bears have loaned forwards Alex Berry and Matt Pope to Reading. In separate transactions also announced today, the Royals activated goaltender Sergey Kostenko from the Reserve List and placed forward Nikita Kashirsky on Reserve.

Berry, a third year pro from Danvers, Massachusetts, began the season with Reading, recording ten points (4g-10a) and twenty-five penalty minutes in thirteen games. Berry, who picked up at least one point in six of his last eight games with Reading prior to being recalled by Hershey on November 13, 2012, scored back-to-back game winners for the Royals on November 2nd and 3rd against the Trenton Titans. Berry was involved in tilts in both of those two games, as well. In eighteen games with the Bears this season, Berry has four points (2g-2a) and forty-penalty minutes. Pope, a fifth year pro from Langley, British Columbia, scored a goal and picked up an assist in his only game as a Royal last Friday in Elmira, New York. He has four points (1g-3a) and eight penalty minutes in 21 games with Hershey this year.

The Royals kick off a four game road trip in Kalamazoo, Michigan tonight (Wednesday, January 9). The puck will drop on the opening face-off in the game between Royals and K-Wings at Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo at 7:00 pm. The game night broadcast will kick off on CBS Sports Radio 1240 am and 98.5 fm at 6:30 pm with the Pre-Game Warm-Up Show presented by Steve Moyer Subaru. Wednesday's game, as with all Royals road games this year, will be televised locally in Berks County on BCTV on Royals TV presented by Boscov's Travel and Apple Vacations.
