Forward Matt Beca Returns to Stingrays

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 20 seasons of hockey in the Lowcountry and proud ECHL affiliate of the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL), announced today that forward Matt Beca has returned to the team from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Beca, 26, skated in seven games with the Checkers this season adding one assist. The Mississauga, Ontario, native dressed in five games with the Stingrays this season scoring four points (two goals, two assists) and 31 contests with the Florida Everblades adding 23 points (seven goals, 16 assists). In 19 total AHL contests, with the Checkers and Springfield Falcons over a three-year professional career, Beca has one goal and two assists for three points. The Stingrays received Beca in a trade with the Everblades on December 31, 2012 in exchange for forward Matthew Pistilli.

The Stingrays host the Solar Bears today, Sunday, January 27 for Kid's Day at 3:05 p.m. at the Coliseum. All kids tickets and kid's meals are $5! Arrive early for a pregame kid's carnival with Charleston Fun Factory and bring your ice skates for a postgame skate with the Stingrays!
