Forsythe's Solid Outing Helps Clinch X's Victory

Sioux City, IA- The Sioux City Explorers ended their three game series in Kansas City with a win, getting the 4-1 victory over the T-Bones at Community America Ballpark.

Sioux City chalked up their first two runs in the third inning. With a runner at first and no outs, X's speedster Matty Johnson showed off his power, cranking a two-run homer to take the early 2-0 lead.

Explorers tacked on two more runs on sacrifice situations. In the sixth, Matty Johnson knocked in another run for the Explorers. X's left fielder Tim Colwell led-off the inning with a single, advanced to second on a base-on-balls, moved to third off a fly-out, and scored on a sac-fly-RBI by Matty Johnson. Matt Koch plated the fourth run for Sioux City, off another sacrifice-fly, scoring the runner at third base.

Kansas City scored their only run of the contest, in the eighth inning. T-Bones shortstop Vladimir Frias led-off the inning with a base hit to left, advanced all the way to third on a wild pitch, and scored off an RBI triple by Starlin Rodriguez.

In the bottom of the ninth, X's closer Connor Overton (s-12) clinched the victory for Sioux City, going 1-2-3 to get his twelfth save of the season.

Explorers left-hander Cody Forsythe (4-3) has solid night on the mound, going eighth innings, with only one run allowed, on six hits and three walks, while recording six strikeouts.

T-Bones starter Josh Tols (4-3) was charged with the loss, allowing two runs in only five innings pitched.
