Cedar Rapids RoughRiders News Release

Cedar Rapids, IA - Former Cedar Rapids RoughRiders forward Pat Cannone will make his NHL debut tomorrow night when the Minnesota Wild host the Colorado Avalanche. Cannone, from Bayport, NY, played for the RoughRiders during the 2006-2007 season. In 59 games, he scored 18 goals and 37 assists and added another goal and seven assists in six postseason games that year for the Riders. Cannone spent four seasons at MIami (Ohio). He was not drafted into the NHL but made his AHL debut late in the 2010-2011 season for the Binghamton Senators. He spent the next two seasons with the Senators before moving on to the Chicago Wolves for the last three seasons.

This season, Cannone joined the Iowa Wild and has had a reunion of sorts playing with former RoughRiders Nick Saracino, Alex Stalock and Steve Michalek.

Last season, while with the Wolves, Cannone was named the AHL's All-Star Game MVP. He has 16 points in 29 games for Iowa thus far this season.

"Tremendous story!" said RoughRiders head coach Mark Carlson. "Pat has worked hard for a long time. He kept dreaming and believing. Very proud and happy for all involved."
