Former Mississippi State Hurler Woodruff Joins Shuckers

BILOXI, MS. - The Milwaukee Brewers have announced the following roster moves that affects the Shuckers roster prior to tonight's 6:15 p.m. CT contest against the Chattanooga Lookouts at AT&T Field.

SUMMARY:

- Brandon Woodruff, RHP, has been transferred from High-A Brevard County to Double-A Biloxi.

- Javi Salas, RHP, has been placed on the 7-day DL, retroactive to May 13.

Woodruff, 23, is set to make his Double-A debut on Thursday, during game one of the series against the Tennessee Smokies, in Kodak, Tenn. Woodruff went 4-1 in eight starts with Brevard County to start 2016. In 44.1 innings, the right-hander allowed 12 runs - nine earned - on 33 hits, 10 walks and 49 strikeouts, while posting a WHIP of 0.97 (11th in the Florida State League). The Wheeler, Miss. native posted a record of 1-1 with a 1.80 ERA in April, and is a perfect 3-0 with a 1.86 ERA in May. In his last start on May 14, the former 11th-round draft pick struck out 10 Dunedin Blue Jays in 6.1 innings of work, while allowing two runs on four hits in the 7-2 victory. During his three-year professional career, Woodruff has a record of 9-10 with a 3.05 ERA (68 ER/20.2 IP), with 59 walks and 157 strikeouts.

Woodruff went 3-6 with a 4.70 ERA in 34 career appearances (18 starts) in three seasons at Mississippi State. He was a two-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and member of the 2013 National Finalist squad and 2012 SEC Tournament championship team. Woodruff tossed three shutout innings in the 2012 SEC Tournament championship game against Vanderbilt. Mississippi State played in a NCAA Regional all three years he was on campus.

Woodruff was taken as the 326th overall pick by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 11th round of the 2014 draft.

Salas, 24, has been placed on the 7-day DL and 2-1 with a 4.50 ERA (15er/30ip), 25 strikeouts and 21 walks so far this season in seven starts. The Coral Gables, Fla. native left last Thursday's game against Jacksonville after 0.1 innings and allowing four runs on just one hit, while walking five and hitting one.

Over his career, the former Miami Hurricane is 11-14 with a career 4.47 ERA with 146 strikeouts in 217.2 innings pitched. Salas was Milwaukee's 10th round selection in 2014 out of Miami.

The Shuckers active roster currently stands at 25, with two on the disabled list.
