Former ECHL Defenseman Joe Corvo Named MeiGray Group ECHL Alumnus Of The Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Former ECHL and current Ottawa Senators
defenseman Joe Corvo is the MeiGray Group ECHL Alumnus of the Month
for December.
Selected in the fourth round (83rd overall) by the Los Angeles Kings in the
1997 National Hockey League Draft, Corvo had 10 points (2g-8a) and a
plus-minus rating of +10 as the Senators went 9-3-2 to improve to 27-10-4
and lead the Eastern Conference with 58 points.
After scoring a goal in a 5-2 loss against the New York Rangers on Dec. 1
and an assist in a 4-3 shootout loss at Tampa Bay on Dec. 4, Corvo extended
his point streak to five games with two assists in a 5-4 win at Florida on
Dec. 5.
The 6-foot-1 and 210-pound defenseman had a four-game point streak that
included the game-winning goal against Atlanta on Dec. 15 as well as
assists against Carolina on Dec. 12, at Pittsburgh on Dec. 13 and at Boston
on Dec. 18.
In his first professional season in 1998-99, Corvo was scoreless in five
regular season games and recorded an assist in four Kelly Cup Playoff games
with Hampton Roads and scored 20 points (5g-15a) in 50 regular season games
with Springfield of the American Hockey League.
The 30 year old has 134 points (40g-94a) and 144 penalty minutes in 315
regular season games and nine points (2g-7a) and six penalty minutes in 20
Stanley Cup playoff games in five seasons in the NHL with the Los Angeles
Kings and the Ottawa Senators.
The ECHL is the top developmental league for both the National Hockey
League and the American Hockey League. It has affiliations with 26 of the
30 teams in the NHL, marking the 11th consecutive season that the league
has had affiliations with at least 20 teams in the NHL, and with 26 of the
29 teams in the AHL. There have been 341 former ECHL players who have
played in the NHL after playing in the ECHL.

The leading distributor of game-worn hockey jerseys and "Official Game-Worn
Jersey Source of the ECHL," MeiGray has sold more than 4,000
game-worn ECHL jerseys since the program began in 2002-03, including nearly
1,000 each of the past three seasons.
